What The Deuce...?

We are Obvious Pseudonym, the band originally responsible for bringing you non-hits such as Keith Chegwin For A Day and Disco Sauce. Our music ranges from disco to samba, blues to cheese-pop, chillout and classical; we've been accused of robbing styles and ideas from everyone from the Pet Shop Boys to Swing Out Sister touching on Asylum Street Spankers and Genesis; music legends have afforded us accolades including "entertaining", "fantastic", "twee" and "buy me a pint." In short, you won't have seen anything like it before.

Our music's been played on radio and telly - our more notable appearances and mentions have been on BBC TV's Have I Got News For You and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

As one fan said, "If Chas'n'Dave had wild, mad, sticky sex with the Pet Shop Boys this is what they'd produce - and Pete Waterman would do the mopping up."

In no particular order, the current lineup is:

  • Sminky Hotsauce (lead voc, bass)
All hail the smooth looks of the disco king, young Sminky croons his way comfortably around the baritone register to ensure the ladies swoon and the men look on jealously. Occasionally plucking the thick strings of his bass guitar our heterosexual gay icon Sminky will be pleased to make your acquaintance.
  •
  • Madame Bernard (lead voc, flute):
For she singeth, and she bloweth. Do not be misled by the sweet vocals for she may attack without warning. Armed with Rusty The Drainpipe her trusted companion she peppers the songs with flute, or occasionally her MIDI-enabled liquorice-stick Yamaha WX11. Beware her gin-fuelled fake orgasms.
  •
  • The Man In Black (rap, guitar):
Wielding his axe of doom The Man In Black holds a doctorate from the University Of Darkness, allegedly purchased on the Internet using ill-gotten gains. He lurks at the back, occasionally breaking into a sharp rap but more commonly thrashing out chords and stabs.
  •
  • Cap'n B (keyboards, programming):
Knob-twiddler and square-eyed screen-starer, caressing keyboards with care, prodding VCO and poking ARP with extraordinary attention to detail. The Cap'n is responsible for writing the basis for much of OP's music and it shows, occasionally breaking into needless jazz and disco.
